Koh Phangan is an island in the Gulf of Thailand. It is about 100 km
from Surat Thani province and about 15 Km from Koh Samui island. Koh Phangan
is the largest of Samui's neighbors at 168Sq Km in size. Over 70% of its
total area is mountains and tropical forest. Lowlands consist of beaches and
cocount fields.
Had Rin is the popular tourist spot on Koh Phangan. A Thin pennisula jutting out from the southern tip of
the island, it is famous for the monthly Full Moon Party. The peninsula has a
beach on each side and each has its own charm and attraction. The Eastern
beach called Sunrise is home to the full Moon party. There are bungalows and
bars catering to all styles of music and atmosphere. It can get pretty noisy
and hectic on this side of the town. Sunset, or the western beach is
popular with the laid back crowd. Much quieter and slower.
